Barbie Dreamtopia is an animated series consisting of 52 episodes at 11 minutes each. It was released in Fall 2017 and animated by Snowball Studios. It “was greenlit following the huge success of the special Barbie Dreamtopia (1 X 44’) which has been taken by several world-class broadcasters including: Cartoon Network (Latin-America), Super RTL (Germany), Pop TV (UK), MiniMini (Poland), Karusel (Russia) and Media Prima (Malaysia), among many others.” It is aimed at pre-school children.
Enter a world of fantastical adventure with Mattel Creation’s newest preschool animated series. Barbie’s youngest sister, Chelsea, takes us on a fantastical journey to the land of her dreams. Together with their friends, Chelsea and Barbie embark on amazing adventures as they explore exciting new lands full of limitless possibility and important life lessons.
The story focuses on Chelsea and her puppy Honey, as they live an extraordinary double life between their day to day lives and their dreams and imagination, where anything is possible.

In real life, Chelsea is being bullied by the boy next door, because she cannot ride her bike without training wheels yet and she is worried that her friends will also tease her if she still has to use them at an upcoming race. Meanwhile, her big sister Barbie, is having troubles of her own, when her friends decide they are too old to keep up the tradition of wearing costumes to an upcoming event.

Both of the girls look out for each other, as Barbie encourages her sister with magical bedtime stories of far off enchanted lands, which subliminally relate to her real life and Chelsea helps her sister remind her friends that even though they are growing up, they can all still be kids at heart.

This is a beautiful film for everyone, both young and old, which can help in so many aspects of life, from overcoming fears, to encouraging kids to learn to ride a two-wheel bike, because it is “magical, just like riding a unicorn”, choosing healthy options when eating sweet things and is also a good opener to conversations about bullying and why we should not hurt other people’s feelings.
